Natural Resistance
In this project, is is my intent to take a critical look at different stages in the development of open land within a fifty mile radius of Dallas, TX. After living in Dallas for over eight years, I am astonished at the constant high volume of development and its uniformity from city to city. These images represent different phases of the process of expansion, from the advertising of the land, to the destruction and re-construction of it. A byproduct of careful planning, the contemporary urban landscape is developed and domesticated into a current idealized notion of beauty and functionality. The process by which we tame nature and create steril environments is rapid; within a matter of days the land is manipulated into unrecognizable sites. I hope to transmit the vulnerability I feel pertains to these sites, amidst the man-made chaos which engulfs them; something that becomes eerily apparent during the night.
