Shoragim Amir was born in 1981 in Arlington, Virginia. At the age of fifteen, he moved to Guatemala; where he resided for the next five years. In the year 2000, he moved to Texas - only to return to Guatemala for an additional year. While in Guatemala for the second time, Shoragim became interested in the photographic medium and during a college course, was introduced to a darkroom for the first time. It was during this time that he became fascinated with making images and his excitment for the medium has only grown and solidified over time. He now lives and works in Richardson, Texas. He received his BFA from the University of North Texas in 2008.
